What to Migrate (And What to Leave Behind)

Not everything needs to come over. Here's what we typically recommend.

Our typical recommendation is to set a cutoff date. Old jobs stay in your existing system until complete. New jobs start in JobTread after a cutoff date. This approach gets you live faster, but we can make a gameplan together for migrating the data that matters to you.

Migration Questions

Do I need to stop working while we migrate?

No. We work around your business. Keep using your old system until the cutoff date.

What about jobs already in progress?

We typically recommend finishing them out in your old system. Unless there is a very good reason to migrate them, it is extremely risky and time-consuming to migrate them mid-stream. We will explore our recommended approach during the blueprint phase.

What if we're also moving QuickBooks Desktop to Online?

We can help coordinate with your migration partner or accountant to make sure your JobTread <> QuickBooks Online sync works perfectly.

How much of my time does this take?

While the Blueprint is only 3-4 hours total, a normal implementation period involves an average of 5 hours per week for input and feedback. We use a prototyping process to get parts of the system in front of you for feedback, and the migration will only conclude once you're satisfied with everything we built.

What if halfway through we realize JobTread isn't right?

We typically catch these problems during our Migration Blueprint process instead of halfway through implementation. We walk in with our eyes wide open about what will change and the requirements of the build.
